Upgrade ubuntu online step by step

This guide will tell you how to upgrade ubuntu online.As an example,we will upgrade ubunut 8.04 to release 8.10.

Startup update manager using command “sudo update-manager -dc” in your terminal.

Then the windows will show which release is available now.For this example the release is ubuntu 8.10.You need to click the Upgrade button here.

After a new window about the new release comes,also you need to click Upgrade

Then system will dowload the upgrade tool automatically.

After that,the system will remind you some detail information about this upgrade,such as how many packages will be removed and how many new packages will be added and so on.To continue,you need

to click “Start Upgrade”

Then I think you can have a cup of coffee or leave for a while.
