In Windows 7

Start Task Manager (Press Ctrl+Alt+Del)

Select the “Preformance” tab

Under preformace @ the bottom of the page there is a “System” section with “uptime”

For Windows 7 at least (not checked Vista) you need to use:

systeminfo | find “Boot Time”
